My naive armchair thought/observation is libertarianism psychologically appeals to many because the fundamental way it's communicated is from a self centred viewpoint. I work(ed) hard for things other people who don't have things just need to work hard. I should be able to own X and do Y because I don't cause issues.
I*'m an accepting person that let others live their lives how they see fit, *I don't want to impose restrictions on others cause *I*'m not an knob.
It's about that individual worldview that isn't based on reality and on fanciful idea that if everyone can do what they want everything will magically work out great because I work hard and things are ok. Peoples bad life choices aren't my problem.
