Jodi Beggs is an economist whose goal is to present economics both in the media and in the classroom in a way that is informative, practical, and fun. Her primary areas of interest are behavioral economics, incentives, and consumer behavior, but she is also very interested in analyzing the impact of public policies and social programs, especially as far as education is concerned.



A lecturer at Northeastern University, Beggs also writes about economics for About.com as well as various other publications. On her website, Economists Do It With Models, Beggs presents written and video tutorials for both classroom and general knowledge purposes. She advised Paul Allen and Morgan Spurlock’s We the Economy series, collaborated with a number of other academics on a book outlining the economic lessons in The Simpsons, and is currently working on a book about the economics of the music industry. In her (nonexistent) free time, Beggs is a data science consultant for Akamai Technologies.
