Leading US Establishment Conservative says: White Working Class Communities Deserve to Die

Summary:
Because … they vote for Trump, and he, like many GOP establishment conservatives, is foaming at the mouth at the thought of Trump at the head of the GOP. At first, I thought this was a joke, say, an article from the Onion. But see here and the original article here, which is an article in the leading US conservative journal National Review by Kevin Williamson. His explicit words on America’s poor white working class: the “truth about these dysfunctional, downscale communities is that they deserve to die.”It is almost as if Williamson set out to prove the thesis of Michael Lind’s analysis of Trump here. The issues that many from the working class care about, such as unemployment, the off-shoring of jobs, and mass immigration, are of no concern to the US conservative elite. As I noted yesterday, the far left do not represent the working class on the last of these crucial issues either (since they now seem to be militantly in favour of open borders), nor do the mainstream left, mostly obsessed as it is with toxic identity politics and regressive left lunacy, which is less and less appealing for the working class too. And even if Bernie Sanders is a rare exception, it does not look like he will be the Democratic nominee and even Bernie’s campaign is poisoned to some extent by association with toxic regressive leftism that loathes the working class as racist, sexist bigots.

So who will the US working class vote for?
