Julianna welcomes back recurring guest Dean Baker, macroeconomist and co-founder of the Center for Economic and Policy Research, to discuss how the economic impact of the Pandemic is a growing concern to all sectors of society. And according to Dean, it seems increasingly likely that we are looking at a horrible and prolonged recession, not a complete economic collapse. He’s gives his recommendations for an economic stimulus that helps the most vulnerable parts of society, as opposed to big corporations and CEOs.
Dean Baker co-founded The Center for Economic and Policy Research in 1999. His areas of research include housing and macroeconomics, intellectual property, Social Security, Medicare and European labor markets. He is the author of several books, including Rigged: How Globalization and the Rules of the Modern Economy Were Structured to Make the Rich Richer. His blog, “Beat the Press,” provides commentary on economic reporting.
