The Advisory Board for the 2019 Human Development Report (HDR) will meet on 28 May in Paris, France and serves as a key milestone in the lead-up to the report on inequality, which will be released towards the end of the year. The role of the Advisory Board is to provide intellectual advice and guidance to the Human Development Report Office on the overall vision, direction and messages of the HDRs.

The 2019 Advisory Board will be co-chaired by Thomas Piketty, Professor at the Paris School of Economics and the School for Advanced Studies in the Social Sciences, and Co-Director of the World Inequality Lab; and Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Senior Minister and Coordinating Minister for Social Policies of Singapore, and includes government officials, academics and leading global development experts (see list below).

The 2019 Human Development Report will focus on understanding the dimensions of inequality most important to people’s well-being, and what is behind them. And the report will provide a comprehensive global analysis of inequality using a brand-new framework that looks: beyond income, beyond averages, and beyond today.
