Από τότε που ο Μαρξ αναγνώρισε στα εργοστάσια του Μάντσεστερ το μοντέλο της νέας καπιταλιστικής κοινωνίας, δεν έχει υπάρξει βαθύτερη μεταβολή στα θεμελιώδη στοιχεία της οικονομίας. Καθώς ο καπιταλισμός αντιμετωπίζει μια σειρά διαρθρωτικών κρίσεων, αναδύεται ένας νέος τρόπος παραγωγής: η ομότιμη (peer-to-peer) παραγωγή και το όραμα του κοσμο-τοπικισμού. Από το ελεύθερο λογισμικό και την εγκυκλοπαίδεια Βικιπαίδεια μέχρι την κατασκευή δορυφόρων, αγροτικών μηχανημάτων και 3D εκτυπωτών, ένας αστερισμός ομότιμης δημιουργίας αναδεικνύει νέους τρόπους παραγωγής, ιδιοκτησίας και διακυβέρνησης. Έρχεται να μας υπενθυμίσει ότι οι κυρίαρχες θεωρίες της οικονομίας υπάρχουν για να ανατρέπονται, καλώντας μας να συμμετέχουμε σε ένα κίνημα που δημιουργεί τον κόσμο που θέλει, μέσα στον κόσμο που θέλει να ξεπεράσει. Ο Βασίλης Κωστάκης συζητεί με τον Γιάνη Βαρουφάκη το πώς η ομότιμη παραγωγή ήδη δημιουργεί δυνάμει ένα μετακαπιταλιστικό παρόν. Ο Βασίλης Κωστάκης είναι καθηγητής στο Πολυτεχνείο του Τάλιν και ερευνητής στο Πανεπιστήμιο του Χάρβαρντ. Είναι, επίσης, μέλος του συνεταιρισμού P2P Lab και του ορεινού εργαστηρίου “Τζουμέικερς” στα Τζουμέρκα της Ηπείρου. Μέλος του Συμβουλευτικού Σώματος του mέta.
