The critical issue is the PURPOSE of study, which must be related to the purpose of our lives. What kind of knowledge is VALUABLE for us, to help enrich our life experiences? The modern secular approach ASSUMES, without discussion, that life is meaningless, and hence these questions are also meaningless. The Islamic approach strongly denies this idea, and asserts that life is short and extremely precious and meaningful.
