Ioannis Georgiou “Yanis” Varoufakis is a Greek economist, academic and politician, who served as the Greek Minister of Finance from January to July 2015. Varoufakis has published a number of texts on economics and game theory, such as The Global Minotaur. In February 2016, he launched the Democracy in Europe Movement 2025 (DiEM25), and subsequently backed a Remain vote in the UK’s European Union membership referendum 2016. In late October 2018, Varoufakis announced the upcoming launch of Progressives International with U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders.
Avram Noam Chomsky (born December 7, 1928) is an American linguist, philosopher, cognitive scientist, historian, political activist, and social critic. He holds a joint appointment as Institute Professor Emeritus at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and laureate professor at the University of Arizona, and is the author of over 100 books on topics such as linguistics, war, politics, and mass media.
