President-elect Vladimir Putin was preparing a successor cabinet of ministers on the principle that they would be organized as a headquarters staff for fighting a war on all fronts, without the option of negotiating terms with the enemy. The impact of the US sanctions, along with the campaign of the British Government in the Skripal affair, and the Syrian front action escalating since the weekend, have reinforced what had already been decided in the Kremlin. The air defense of Russia’s Black Sea Fleet has declared that it is combat alert.
This comes with the expectation that a US-led coalition, that would include France and the United Kingdom, will strike the Syrian military within the next 24 hours.
Note that after the collapse of the Ottoman Empire, Britain and France became the colonial powers that divided and ruled the Middle East (recall Sykes-Picot). They never gave up their interests in the region, and post-WWII, when the US became the dominant Western power, it brought them along. This is a neocolonial undertaking about control of the Middle East and its energy reserves. Control of the Middle East is also vital to the projected conflict with Russia and China.

Or will ‘Mad Dog’ Secretary of Defense Matthis win out in pressing Donald Trump to test the Russians’ bluff on their red lines in Syria? Will the US launch missiles against Damascus or against Iran, as I suggested yesterday as an alternative scenario? Or will it support Poroshenko in launching a massive attack on Donetsk, as the Russians appear to expect judging by their just putting their entire military on war alert?….
