Renegade Inc. Big Bad Vlad! The Demonisation of Russia

Summary:
Well, I agreed with everything John Wright said here. But I became fascinated by the embedded clip of Putin. For the first time I noticed how the interpreter also copied Putin's tone and mannerisms so you get to hear how he is expressing himself. I have noticed this before but hadn't really thought about it, but I guess interpreters don't just translate, they also try to give an indication of how things are being said. Well, Putin has always sounded modest, genuine, concerned, and sincere to me. I find myself liking him.John Wright says it is the media - which is owned by the ruling elite - which controls our politicians. He says how the British ruling elite are schooled at Eton, Cambridge, and Oxford which are hotbeds of extremism, where they are indoctrinated with white Western

This could be interesting, too:

NewDealdemocrat writes March JOLTS report: declines in everything, fortunately including layoffs

NewDealdemocrat writes Manufacturing treads water in April, while real construction spending turned down in March (UPDATE: and heavy truck sales weren’t so great either)

Eric Kramer writes Eric Segall tells us what he really thinks about the Roberts court

Angry Bear writes Supreme Court watchers mollified themselves (and others) with vague promises

John Wright says it is the media - which is owned by the ruling elite - which controls our politicians. He says how the British ruling elite are schooled at Eton, Cambridge, and Oxford which are hotbeds of extremism, where they are indoctrinated with white Western supremacy. The same thing happens in the US, he says.

In the past we had some measured and responsible politicians, says, John Wright, like JFK, but now we only have arrogant crazy people (cowboys, I might add) which makes the situation very dangerous.

Russia and China are going to have to be very careful in how they handle the fall of Western power, he says, and so far they done extremely well, adding that China and Russia are well aware of what is needed to be done. I found that to be a bit reassuring

John Wright says that the US has a very violent culture which brutally oppresses its poor, but it does the same thing to most other countries in the world. It's about exploitation and keeping the masses down.

When the Soviet Union broke up 70 million Russians were driven into poverty. I even read how most Russians lost their pensions overnight. How would you feel if you lost your pension while Western backed neoliberal fat cats stole all the money? So, now that most Russians know what being a vassal state of the US really means, they don't want anything more to do with it.

Anyway, if John Ashcroft had asked me those questions I would have given him the same answers.

I put 5 stars on this video.

The barrage of scaremongering by the British press before the football World Cup painted Russia as a tyrannical country unsafe for tourists and football fans alike… but the reality has been very different. So, was this Western media onslaught a mistake, or just the latest instalment of post-Cold-War rhetoric to malign Russia? Host Ross Ashcroft is joined by writer and broadcaster John Wight to discuss why both sides are locked in a frozen conflict.
