Both Russia and China regard themselves as involved in a low-grade war with the US an its allies that is heating up.

The story does not mention the increasing tension arising over Taiwan as the US tests reversing the long-standing "one-China" policy, which China regard as a confrontation rather than a provocation. The story does mention that the US has already stepped on Russia's red line by advancing NATO to Russia's border.

The situation is becoming volatile.
