Branko Milanovic – In praise of the British NHS

Summary:
I don't know how to copy tweets along with their photos and videos yet, but here is a text copy of a Branko Milanovic tweet. It's sometimes said that Branko is very pro free markets and doesnt like socialism, hmmm!  I went for a scan recently and I said I to the receptionist that I had forgotten the paperwork. The centre was a 15 minute walk away from where I lived. The receptionist said it doesn't matter and just asked for my name and address and then told me to take a seat. Within ten minutes I was scanned, which didn't take long, and then I was off home again. No paperwork, nothing to sign, no insurance to worry about, no money problems about whether I could afford this or not - just straight forward, relaxed, and easy.  In praise of the British NHS.    My friend (not a UK

My friend (not a UK national) fell and badly injured his head in London. He was picked up by the ambulance within 5 minutes, was attended by three doctors and several nurses, had a scan done, his injury was stitched...and was charged zero (0).
