Greg Palast says the British voted for Brexit because they hated globalisation and couldn't stomach anymore of it. Boris Johnson managed to present himself as the anti-establishment candidate who was against Europe. Now we have five more years of a party which has brought neoliberalism to the UK for the past 40 years.I live in a Conservative area and I tried to think why so many of my neighbours have always voted Tory. They see the gentry as having high status - the Toffs, Lords and Barons. They think these people will look after them, when they only look after themselves and have caused havoc to the lives of most British people. The Labour politician, Emily Thornberry, recently did an interview where she said that on the doorstep people didn't think Jeremy Corbyn was a leader who could run the country. She said that many families she spoke to had family members in the army and they were scared for their safety.
