Mike, expected fiscal flows matter, and it is better data than much of the rearview metrics that get cited, but fiscal flows do not reflect net stimulus. Have to take monetary policy into account as well. Monetary policy can completely offset fiscal flows, and in fact, the correlation between the Fed Funds rate and the inflation rate is .75. Most changes in GDP due to fiscal policy are offset by Fed policy.
