Mikey, being apolitical is best cos none of em are any good. What we need is truly 'enlightened' 'philosopher' rulers, as per Plato's Republic! Wise men & women, who genuinely rule for the benefit of the people and can see further out than just the next 4 yr term til re election. You tell me why career pollies , pushing 80 yrs old are still hanging round the corridors of power. Theyve had entire careers there and still their lust for power has not been satisfied, even with one foot each in the grave. Go and meditate on a beach somewhere. Go enjoy your grandkids.

    • @Just a middle aged bloke This is fanciful nonsense. You have not thought this through in any realistic way. Louie Gohmert was a judge and congressperson. We don't have any way to elect only "enlightened' 'philosophers" much less do it every four years. Further, your "enlightened' 'philosopher" might be my "crank with half baked ideas". For controversies sake I choose Noam Chomsky. I cannot imagine anyone will object and we will live in peace and harmony at least for four years. Oh, you don't like Noam, well I guess we will need to choose our representatives the way we always have through voting. Regarding term limits, I don't think that we need less democracy. If someone is doing a good job, I want to be able to vote for them. I don't want to go through representative roulette unnecessarily. Yeah, we should have an endless stream of people I like who are geniuses and saints, but back in the real world, you have not even hinted how to make that happen.

@NoExitLoveNow I wouldnt call it fanciful nonsense but yes u are right it is unrealistic. Because I was speaking from a utopian, idealistic perspective to make a point, namely the left is a wolf in sheep's clothing. They use lots of moralising, virtue signalling pretence but really they just lust for power just like anyone on the right. Again I am APOLITICAL, but at least the right will grant greater INDIVIDUAL FREEDOMS! I don't need some grubberment constantly in my life. Make the laws, look after education and health (we have universal health care here, which I believe in strongly) look after borders, defence etc but OTHERWISE BUT OUT. DON'T TRY TO OVER REGULATE OUR LIVES! WE DON'T WANT POWER HUNGRY POLITICIANS RUNNING OUR LIVES! When we know they just care bout power. Some of the worst murdering tyrants in human history, eg Stalin, came up through the ranks as moralising lefties claiming to "care more" about their fellow humans. And then there's other lefty moralising nonsense, like free open borders. No one likes to see other human beings suffering but just like u said ABOUT BEING REALISTIC enough to know we cant save everyone. And free open borders are a recipe for chaos and disaster as Europe found out circa 2014-2015 and unfortunate Mediterranean nations like Italy, Greece & Spain re still experiencing today with rampant illegal immigration. I am not trying to interfere in US politics, I assure u the same battle is being fought out here with moralising, virtue signalling UNREALISTIC AND IMPRACTICAL lefties so desperately keen to over regulate and over step the mark into all our lives

    • @Just a middle aged bloke Huh, I guess you really are apolitical. That was the most apolitical string of words I have ever read. (sarcasm alert)

Further, none of that had anything to do with anything with your previous comment other than your admission that it was unrealistic. (Actually it was worse than that. It was, as I said, nonsensical gibberish.)

I got it. You are a MAGA chud. You live in a MAGA fantasy world. Don't try to hide behind talk of "enlightened philosophers".

    • Plato's republic, as described, is more or less North Korea. Banning all music, poetry, etc that doesn't serve the state, together with compulsory military service sounds like a great deal.

Let me brush up on my Juche-Songun

    • Just a middle aged bloke

@megakedar "Plato's republic, as described, is more or less North Korea" Please don't sully Plato with this nonsense. 12 months of compulsory military service IS a good idea. It helps turn aimless boys into disciplined men with a healthy respect for authority.

  2. Well Informed Pitchfork

Bitcoin is really overvalued. The PE ratio is far too high.

  10. You are a 100% normie. Mike Normie.

  11. When you go to your website you get hijacked to some amazon iphone 11 rubbish . . . . . very scamy ! ?

  12. Economists always make the “all else equal” mistake. MMT makes a hell of a lot LESS mistakes than others. Warren Bill Randall and Stephanie are smart people. But raising interest rates won’t lead to a net transfer to the private sector because equities and other assets are derivitives of interest rates and would be valued a hell of lot lower with interest rates higher, which means less $ amount private sector assets in the short/medium term. So no ceteris peribus

    • This is incorrect. Stock prices are like any other price. When they change (up or down) it's just a redistribution of assets. When stock prices go down because people sell, sellers of stock have more money and less stock, while buyers of stock have more stock and less money. No net creation (or loss) of assets occurred. Only the sovereign (gov't) can add net financial assets. Raising rates adds net financial assets.

    • @Michael Norman Thanks for the response. That and the MMT response could very well be correct. But a thought experiment: there are 1,000 houses in a neighborhood worth $1. But interest rates fall and cause people to hold less cash, buy no government bonds and invest in housing. One house gets sold for $2. Then everyone does their personal accounting and private sector wealth increases from $1,000 to $2,000 due to mark to market accounting as the Fed changes in risk preferences. Money was spent into existence (MMT) but then $1 was leveraged and paper wealth was created by the Fed. We all know investors who sell TLT and bought stocks due to high TLT price. I believe Stephanie and Bill’s blogs acknowledge this financial economy asset price inflation but Warren thinks there is no causation as Fiscal affects the real economy unlike Monetary policy (the latter which I think he’s right)

  13. Bitcoin will fall soon, it's increasing too fast, overheating. People say, this time it's different but institutional investors don't care about bitcoin, they just want to make money. They need that money, their clients are getting mad because of the crash march 2020. It's a portfolio shift, they were on the gold, dumped that, then travel stocks then dumped that. Then now bitcoin.

  14. Thanks Mike!?

  15. Maybe usd will turn around…Why not?

    • If they cut the fiscal deficit and trade deficit, it will. And depending on how deeply these are cut will determine the extent of the dollar rally. Without a cut, however, it's going down and all rallies are bear market rallies.

    • @Michael Norman I remember this spring dollar spike after lockdown was imposed. So, maybe some global event might push run into the dollar. Let's say they will declare Pfizer ineffective or cannot cover new strain.
What is your take on this, Mike?

  16. What does it really count in the market are price and target.and target are already fixed.the rest is a price affair.

  17. Hold onto your boot straps Mike
