gotcha. i have only lived through one in 2008, and no one even knew what a CDO was until Lehman went bust. intuitively i would think that if markets were forward looking they would have this priced, but i even question how "forward looking" they actually are. @@amanzella6508

I avoid large crowds, wouldn't want to be at Times Square, even if they paid me to be there. As far as Los Angeles/Southern California there are some nice fireworks displays all over, at some beaches too.
I usually watch the Seattle Space Needle New Years celebration instead of what's going on in New York. It's more interesting to me.
Everything is proceeding as MMT has foreseen.
New Years Eve is for hooking up. If you're not going to hook up you may as well go to sleep.

I was at Times Square for 1973 New Years Eve and it was wild. There was definitely alcohol and the area was a lot more sleazy. I remember seeing a man beating up a woman and her wig flying off. Deep Throat was playing at the movies. From that point on I just watched it on TV every year.

I just don't think Fed Ex represents the broader economy. I believe Amazon, UPS and USPS are eating their lunch. Fed Ex is just too expensive and the competition is too fierce.
