  1. The dollar going to lose its value again, I do not think Erdogan has enough information to fight with currency things.

  2. Economic science..that's a joke!

  3. Isn’t Japan’s population demographics part of the reason why Japan has been unable to induce any inflation?

  4. Mike, you mentioned how interest rates are reflected in the cost of goods. That makes sense because it would cost more to get loans to add capacity. Lower capacity would result in less supply and thereby more inflation, right?

    • Yes that is how I understood too. The general price will increase thru cogs. It's interesting, because I don't analyze my cogs with interest rates. And my company determines price by calculating gp. In this whole equation of developing a list price, we don't factor interest rates. And it's not gaap. Having trouble connecting this back to interest rate increases.

  5. However if interest rates go up, wouldn’t that dampen demand by making consumers less likely to borrow and spend money that they don’t have? The question is which effect is larger, damping consumption or damping capacity and raising prices at the same time?

  7. You rock!

  8. I’m currently in Turkey and to be honest have been enjoying the exchange rate against the USD but woke up this morning to a serious drop. Looks like this ride is over?

    • @lee green with this happening I think ill withdraw little amounts every month. in 24hours I could benefit from 8000 TL that the equivalent of 3 months of rent, now I have to exchange more USD just to break even. but I have to wish to believe in the evil genius bankers to keep the Turkish lira at its lowest, first time I take the side of the devil hahaha

    • @4K Walking Travel me too 🤣🤣🤣🤣

    • @lee green it is desperately hilarious lol, where you living in turkey bro?

    • @4K Walking Travel I’m currently in Antalya, where are you?

    • @lee green no way! I'm also living in Antalya , it been a long time I didn't speak English here lol, give me your WhatsApp if you're free to hangout sometimes!

  9. I am 30% cash and loading this dip yolo 🤷🏻‍♂️

  10. That shows that the international market is all manipulated by crocks and specially the US , they love high interest rates to keep the poor poorer and the ruche richer , the world is so corrupt , turkey is fighting the whole world . It’s an economical war .

  11. Little correction: It's not because he said he will cut the rates further and the TRY surged, but he said he will compensate the amount that is missing from the TRY depo rates of compared to USDTRY increase. On the contrary whenever he mentioned he will lower the interest rates next minute USDTRY skyrocketed. I don't agree with you that he knows what he is doing in fact he openly said that he is following on islamic terms where interest is forbidden. So his actions are not scientific, not at all.

    • Ishumaeru Ḫāraorda

Are you saying interest makes scientific sense and islam is unscientific? How can infinite growth in a finite system make scientific sense? And if Islam is against science why did the muslims produce the scientific method. I don't think you understand scientific nor islam or islam forbids usury, you think you unexamined presumptions are valid but if you would examine them you would realise they are false but only after you learn the correct method with which to examine them which is logic

    • @Ishumaeru Ḫāraorda islam is just wrong. there is no value to islam. I hope you find science, honesty, compassion, truthfulness, humility, secularism, lobe and peace 🙂

    • Science had nothing to do with that.

  12. This is just misleading, Mike. Erdogan doesn't understand MMT, nor has he ever heard of it. It is absolutely foolish to think he knows anything about economics, let a lone specific monetary theories.

  13. American Exploring

You made me laugh Mike. Did you understand what your friend Erdogan the bozo did? The government of Turkey is now guaranteeing that if you deposit your money in Liras that you will be guaranteed the interest rate and the government will pay the difference to the customers in case the dollar got stronger against the Lira only if money stayed in the account for at least 6 months. They tried this back in 1994 to buy some time and then did not work in 1997. This has nothing to do with lowering interest rate.

  14. Peki şimdi ne yapmalıyız ? doların durumu ne olcak ? düşecek mi çok?
