    Congratulations.

  4. I'm impressed. I gotta say I was a little concerend that you didn't realize what you were getting yourself into, but you survived. That was a very humbling experience. Every person should try something similar. It makes you appreciate the little things we have in life. Our society is so fragile, people have no clue how easily it can all be taken away. Cold water is unforgiving and cleansing at the same time. It can truly heal you, if you let it. I took 2-minute ice cold showers for 9 months once while dealing with cancer and what it does to your body is quite fascinating, it toughens you up and actually helps with pain. Check out Wim Hoff on youtube if your'e interested in that sort of thing, Wim Hoff is truly amazing, funny and inspiring. I'm glad you stuck it out Mike! It would have been so easy to give up and that's the toughest part really. It's pushing past those stages of pain and despair that make you stronger. You're still a badass at your age kiddo! Welcom back!

  5. The western slopes of the Cascades are a good place to experience weather. That's why it's called the Evergreen State!

  6. Next time, try Summer outdoor endurance at the beach near Palermo. Next to grappa bars at 2 euros a large shot… you won't have a problem with sleeping: you can do that whilst floating…

  7. its amazing how quickly your world shrinks under those conditions.

  8. can you imagine the first people who lived on this planet and how much we have evolved…

This was a point brought up by our instructor. How primitive people did this with no modern technology. Simple tools, animal skins for clothing, no electricity, etc. Really makes you think.

  9. I worked outside for over forty years doing construction and maintenance, I can appreciate what you’re saying.

  10. The fact you didn’t give up, and also came away with gratitude and appreciation is what being an outdoorsman is about. Well that and knowing how to take care of yourself, which will come if you continue path. All good man, good work.

  11. sounds like a good time(i mean that). These types of things is what makes you know you're alive. Take what you learned and try it again. Maybe there's something you could improve upon.

  12. Did it change your opinion about Russia destroying Ukranian electricity infrastructure and food supply?

  13. Kinda thinking maybe consider a spa retreat for your next adventure ❤

      Good idea!!!!

    • @Mike Norman MMT Economics Come out of your comfort zone: buy a better jacket, a better sleeping-bag and
maybe a tent to replace that tarp and GO BACK. Confront yourself with the similar conditions but better prepared.
Of course you should not expect luxury but maybe you "learn" more by going back better prepared. Just my opinion.

  14. Did he teach you anything, or did he just take your money and abandon you to the elements.

  15. Sounds like your average day in England mate.

  16. A masochist "(in general use) a person who enjoys an activity that appears to be painful or tedious."

"what kind of masochist would take part in such an experiment?" Copy/paste from the internet. 😉
