Ruling citing Engaging in Insurrection

Arne in an earlier post this morning commented; “The ruling by Judge Wallace in Colorado that trump engaged in insurrection has not been discussed in another posting yet. If he is legally the instigator, is he guilty of manslaughter?” A Colorado judge on Friday (17 November) found that former President Donald Trump engaged in insurrection during the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol but rejected an effort to keep him off the state’s...

The Plight of Democrats in Talking the Politics of Democracy in Public and in Court

As Taken from Letters from an American: Yesterday, David Roberts of the energy and politics newsletter Volts noted a Washington Post article illustrated how right-wing extremism is accomplishing its goal of destroying faith in democracy. Examining how “in a swing Wisconsin county, everyone is tired of politics,” the article revealed how right-wing extremism has sucked up so much media oxygen that people have tuned out, making them unaware that...

Fee For Service Medicare Part D Price Increases

I am late on the draw for this information on Medicare. Been busy with other issues. Had dinner last night at VA’ Bene, a restaurant in Chandler which is not too far from us. An older couple joined us afterwards as we were sipping some Chianti. The heat finally got to this couple and they are moving back to Oregon after living here for twenty years. Medicare Part D in 2024: A First Look at Prescription Drug Plan Availability, Premiums, and Cost...

Guess I will have to Read a Book . . .

I subscribe to the Atlantic and have done so for about a decade. I subscribe to the print version also which accompanies me on long flights. An Interesting read and I like to turn pages. This morning I ran across an article by John Virtue, “How John F. Kennedy Fell for the Lost Cause. And the grandmother that will (did) not let him get away with it.” The article itself is interesting enough to read. Maybe you have access to the link I...

New Bankruptcy Process for Student Loans is Proving to be a Cruel, Dangerous Joke for Borrowers.

Our opposition seeds stories (CNBC) in the media pretty frequently like this. They try to make it seem like getting a discharge on student loans in bankruptcy is possible for most people. It is not. AB: Alan is voicing his displeasure with media claiming many people are getting student loan relief. They are not. In the end the battle for relief for another 40 million people needs to occur. “More student loan borrowers walk away from their debt in...

How Do We Make Biden Look Younger?

We can’t. He is what he is. Biden sounds and acts old. I did not like him as a senator, He opposed any student loan relief. He also made it more difficult to get relief. As a president, he is different. If we are to pick a president who has shown rather weak thinking, I would pick on George Bush Jr. To back this up, I offer you the marriage quotes. I will not offer you any of them, the link is there, and on every quote (83), he claims the man...

Slowing Growth in seniors opting for insurer-run Medicare Advantage plans

When I start to get comments and questions from some of the more expert authorities on healthcare such as Merrill Gooz, Andrew Sprung, Steve Early (Suzanne Gordon), and Kip Sullivan; I start to feel pretty good about some of my commentaries or comments. This last go around on Gooz News in the comments section, we were talking about “Fee For Service” Medicare and “Medicare Advantage” plans. The one issue I am experiencing is a 67% increase in the...

Democrat’s Domestic Infrastructure Investments Paying off

November 15, 2023 . . . Representative Chip Roy (R-TX) scolding his colleagues: “One thing. I want my Republican colleagues to give me one thing. One. That I can go campaign on and say we did. One! Anybody sitting in the complex, if you want to come down to the floor and come explain to me, one material, meaningful, significant thing the Republican majority has done besides, ‘Well, I guess it’s not as bad as the Democrats.’”  In contrast,...

Just Some More Politics Today

House politics today as most Repubs and Dems support the House funding bill. Democrat Jake Auchincloss of Massachusetts and Mike Quigley of Illinois voted against the passage of the House Speaker Mike Johnson’s stopgap funding bill to avert a government shutdown. With the two Dems, Ninety-three Republicans voted against it also. The bill passed. A similar bill as what former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy supported. The Democratic House leadership,...
