International Mother Earth Day April 22, 2023

Thank you Fred Dobbs and a Happy Mother Earth Day to You also. International Mother Earth Day, United Nations Mother Earth is clearly urging a call to action. Nature is suffering. Oceans filling with plastic and turning more acidic.  Extreme heat, wildfires and floods, have affected millions of people. Even these days, we are still trying to get back on track from COVID-19, a worldwide health pandemic linked to the health of our ecosystem....

‘Where You Belong’ or Where Freedom Rings

I am not sure I would belong in this particular hell created by a newly elected Ottawa, Michigan County Board. The title (above [in case you forgot where it is]) change (left to right) embraces the newly elected leadership thoughts on how to run a county. The county can be found on the southwest side of Michigan. It includes the cities of Holland where the Tulip Festival is held and Grand Haven. Pretty area, my wife and I would grab lunch on the...

Expanding Medicaid to people in prison

XCons have a tough enough time adjusting to the outside without being denied access to healthcare. It is an adjustment period, they have little power, and they are taken advantage of once released from prison. Denial of healthcare is just another issue on top of all the other issues they face when getting back into society. Why states should change Medicaid rules to cover people leaving prison, Prison Policy Initiative, Emily Widra. The gap in...

The economic tailwind from last autumn’s declining gas prices is probably over

The economic tailwind from last autumn’s declining gas prices is probably over  – by New Deal democrat On Wednesday I discussed how gas prices, with an assist from higher stock prices leading to stock options being cashed in, was the primary reason why the coincident indicators hadn’t rolled over yet. I wanted to explore that a little more: was the boost from lower gas prices going to allow for a “soft landing,” or a “modified limited...

Public charging stations at Canada’s Post offices. Why can’t it happen here?

Steve Hutkins discussing EVs and the charging stations. This was one of the arguments leading up to the US Post Offices having EV postal delivery vehicles. If Canada can do it, why not the US. It is a bit more as the Canadian Postal workers unio are talking about the public using their charging stations, high spped internet, low fee financial services, and becoming community hubs. If done in Canada, why not the US? Canada’s postal workers want to...

Jobless claims continue to warrant yellow caution flag, while continuing claims shade closer to crimson  – by New Deal democrat Initial claims (blue in the graph below) continued their recent track into recession caution territory this week, as they rose 5,000 to 245,000, 12.9% higher YoY and the 5th time in the last 7 weeks that claims have been 240,000 or above. FTC and Congress Put PBMs on Notice

FTC and Congress Put PBMs on Notice – AAF (americanactionforum.org) The conclusion of the Congressional Plan Much of this post in a copy and past. However, the conclusion is mostly mine. I am starting out with the conclusions and actions of Congress to which the author claims could result in fewer PBMs and increasing prices. If you look at Figure Two, it becomes rather obvious where the fallout is going to be. The smaller PBMs will not be...

Coincident indicators hold on, mainly due to improvement in gas prices YoY

Coincident indicators hold on, mainly due to improvement in gas prices YoY  – by New Deal democrat I’ve been paying particular attention lately to the coincident indicators, because the leading indicators have telegraphed a recession for about half a year – so why isn’t it here yet??? A good representation of coincident indicators remaining positive is the Weekly Economic Index of the NY Fed: It looked on track to turn negative at the...

Arrest warrant moot for kidnapping of Emmett Till

One may think this is a dead issue. It may be for law enforcement and White Americans. If you go to the News Break site, you will see over 190 comments concerning the murder of the young black boy Emmett Till and the subsequent failure to question Mrs. Roy Bryant (Carolyn Bryant Donham). Her comments to her husband and half-brother led to the kidnaping and murder of a young 14-year-old boy. My opinion, they should question her. Her comments...
